Spectacular views await visitors at Teniqua Treetops in the Knysna forest.
Indigenous birdlife, including the famous Knysna Loerie, can be observed from your private terrace at Teniqua Treetops.
Just north of Sedgefield lies a beautiful and well-kept Garden Route-secret: a sanctuary for the soul called Teniqua Treetops. Off the beaten track and partially off the grid, this self-catering eco-lodge consists of 8 treetop suites within 36 hectares of indigenous Knysna forest.
A nature lover’s paradise, Teniqua Treetops offers the perfect getaway for couples and families that enjoy quiet time, nature hikes, and the natural beauty of the Garden Route. A haven for birdwatchers and stargazers alike, this eco-lodge also received Green Champion Level certification from Green Tourism Active (GTA).
The onsite amenities include a licensed bar serving drinks and refreshments, a petting zoo, an art gallery, 2 forest trails and a river walk giving guests access to the Karatara River and its exquisite rock pools.
The suites are all built on the edge of a gorge, so access is from ground level with the front of the suites sporting terraces built on stilts ranging from two to six meters above the ground. This provides breathtaking views of the Karatara Gorge and the majestic Knysna Forest.
Teniqua Treetops makes use of harvested rainwater and purified river water. It also has a water recycling plant and they germinate, harvest and reintroduce Outeniqua Yellowood Trees to the parts of this forest ranch that has previously been used for farming.
Teniqua Treetops, in all its beauty, is not a manicured environment. It is an eco-lodge and it forms part of the forest. This means that no fumigation is used, ever, so if you are someone who doesn’t have phobias about flora or fauna; trees, plants, birds, wild animals, insects, spiders, snakes, butterflies, moths, and all other forest animals, Teniqua Treetops is the holiday destination for you.
