Unqualified audits for all Western Cape departments

ALL departments in the Western Cape Government received unqualified audits for the 2021/2022 financial year.

This was revealed during a presentation to the Western Cape Provincial Parliament’s Budget Committee by the Auditor-General of South Africa.

“This level of financial responsibility is key to living up to the expectations of our citizens and puts the provincial government in a position to deliver services efficiently, as can be seen in the different levels of service delivery in the Western Cape and other provinces,” said Deidré Baartman, member of the provincial parliament and the DA’s Western Cape spokesperson on budget.

Fruitless and wasteful expenditure was less than 0,001% of the total provincial budget for 2021/22, with no unauthorised expenditure in the past three financial years.

“These audit outcomes do not happen by accident, they are the result of strong and ethical leadership, and a culture of accountability the DA has instilled in the Western Cape Government,” Baartman said.
