CONCERTED efforts by the Ladismith Police to eradicate drug trafficking in Kannaland on Monday (23 May) yielded positive results with the confiscation of drugs destined for distribution in Ladismith.
According to Capt Malcolm Pojie, Southern Cape Police spokesperson, members of Visible Policing attached to the Ladismith SAPS were conducting crime prevention patrols when they spotted a suspicious man and woman walking in the town centre down Suid Street near a garage. When the members stopped next to the pair, the man threw a bag under the police vehicle. The bag contained 394 Mandrax tablets and just more than 10 g tik. The 49-year-old man was arrested and later charged with the illegal possession of drugs.
In an unrelated matter a 30-year-old man was arrested at approximately 23:50 on the same day in connection with the possession of a small amount of tik found in his possession. He was arrested on a charge of the possession of illegal drugs.
