AFTER a frustrating draw due to rain and floods in White River against the Mpumalanga Rhinos two weekends ago the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers men, based in Oudtshoorn, are facing a must win scenario.
The Badgers will travel to Buffalo Park in East London where they will take on the Eastern Cape Iianyathi in a four-day match – starting on today (Thursday, 23 February).
The Badgers will, beside an outright victory, also be searching for maximum bowling bonus points and a significant number of batting bonus points against the boys from the Eastern Cape.
The squad for the weekend is comprised of Blayde Capell, Matthew Christensen, Jhedli van Briesies, André Malan, Onke Nyaku (captain), Jean du Plessis, Pheko Moletsane, Sean Whitehead, Basheer Walters, Jarred Jardine, Sintu Majiza, Hanno Kotze and Tyrece Karelse.
Only 46 overs were bowled against the Rhinos on the second day of their Cricket South Africa Division 2 Four-Day competition.
The Rhinos were at 101/1 at the close of play on the second day as the umpires called off the match at 09:30 on the final day.
After the Badgers men take on the Iianyathi, their remaining fixtures look as follows:
• vs Tuskers in Oudtshoorn, 2-5 March
• vs Northern Cape Heat in Oudts-hoorn, 9-12 March
