Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”
This scripture has always shaken me to my core. Because it reminds me that nothing, no thought, no motive, no hidden thing, is ever hidden from God.
And if I’m honest, that both terrifies me and comforts me. It terrifies me, because I know my heart. It comforts me, because He still chooses me anyway. Ready or Not, Jesus Is Coming!
Being ready for Christ’s return isn’t about having the “perfect” Christian life. It isn’t about doing more good deeds than bad ones or being in church every Sunday. It’s about one thing that changes everything: Being born again through saving faith in Jesus Christ. Not religion. Not tradition.
Jesus. His death. His burial. His resurrection. (John 3:16; Rom 10:9-10) That faith, real saving faith, changes everything. It produces fruit. It stirs up holiness. It makes you long for Him more than anything else in this world.
Titus 2:11-14 puts it so beautifully: “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.
It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope, the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ…”
Saving faith isn’t just “believing in Jesus.” It’s living for Jesus. It’s saying “yes” to Him and “no” to sin. It’s loving His appearing more than we love this world. Five Wise Virgins, Five Foolish Virgins… Jesus’ parable of the ten virgins is sobering.
- The wise virgins, lamps full, extra oil at hand, represent the truly born-again believer.
They live ready, eagerly waiting for the Bridegroom. - The foolish virgins look the part but lack true love for Jesus. They enjoy the
benefits of being “around” believers but never surrender to Him. They think association will
save them. It will never.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven…” (Mat 7:21).
I don’t want to be amongst those who, when Jesus returns, are off “going away to make the purchase” (Mat 25:10).
I don’t want to realize too late that I had all the right appearances but an empty heart.
This is my prayer, and maybe it’s yours too: “Lord, fill my lamp with oil. Keep me awake. Keep me ready. Let my love for You grow hotter, not colder. Let my life reflect the reality of Your grace.”
Your Call Today! Beloved, don’t gamble with eternity. Don’t assume you’ll have time later to get right with God. Fill your lamp now. Repent where you need to. Surrender your life fully to Jesus.
Because one day, He will return and the door will close. This isn’t about fear. It’s about urgency.
Because if you’re truly His, there’s joy in watching and waiting! There’s peace in knowing that the same God who saved you will finish the work He began in you.
So today, make sure your lamp is full. Take extra oil with you. Live like a bride who longs to see her Bridegroom’s face.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Eph 2:10).

How to break generational curses – A Biblical guide
Probably a question Adele and myself are asked the most, when speaking at seminars.
Many people feel trapped in cycles of brokenness – patterns of sin, poverty, sickness, addiction, or dysfunction that seem to pass from one generation to the next. The Bible calls this a curse, and the good news is that Jesus Christ came to break every chain and set us free!!
In this blog, I’ll explore what generational curses are, what the Bible says about them, and the steps you can take to walk in freedom.
What is a generational curse?
A generational curse is a pattern of consequences caused by sin that is passed down through families. Exodus 20:5 speaks of “the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.”
This is not about God being unfair, but about the reality that sin has a ripple effect through families and communities.
Examples include:
- Patterns of addiction -Repeated divorce or broken relationships.
- Cycles of poverty or failure -Chronic illness without medical explanation.
- Involvement in occult practices, including Freemasonry and visiting psychics, witchdoctors (sangomas) and fortune tellers.
The Good News — Jesus Broke the Curse! Galatians 3:13 says, “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us.”
On the cross, Jesus took the full weight of every curse upon Himself. When you receive Him as Lord and Saviour, you are no longer bound by the chains of your past or your family’s history.
Steps to Break a Generational Curse:
- Recognise and repent
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any patterns in your life or family history that are not from God. Repent not only for your own sin but also for the sins of your ancestors, standing in the gap as Nehemiah did (Nehemiah 1:6). Prayer: Lord, I repent for my sins and the sins of my forefathers. I turn away from anything that has given the enemy a foothold in my family. - Renounce every agreement
Speak out loud that you break every agreement with sin, lies, or occult involvement. This includes rejecting witchcraft, false religion, unforgiveness, and ungodly beliefs. Declaration: In the name of Jesus, I renounce every curse, covenant, and agreement with darkness. I choose freedom in Christ. - Apply the blood of Jesus
Revelation 12:11 says we overcome “by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony.” Speak the truth that you are covered by His blood, forgiven, and redeemed. - Replace the lie with God’s truth
Every curse leaves a lie behind. Replace it with the Word of God. For example: Lie: “Our family will always struggle.”Truth: “My God will supply all my needs” (Philippians 4:19). - Walk in obedience
Breaking a curse is not a one-time event; it’s a lifestyle of walking in alignment with God’s Word. Fill your home with prayer, worship, and Scripture. Prayer to Break a Generational Curse: Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I thank You for the power of the cross. I repent for my sins and the sins of my ancestors. I renounce every curse, covenant, and agreement with the enemy. By the blood of Jesus, I break every generational curse over my life and my family. I declare freedom, healing, and blessing from this day forward.
Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and guide me in Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Final Encouragement: If you have prayed this prayer in faith, believe that Jesus has set you free. Now walk in that freedom daily.
Remember John 8:36 – “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
