Four preschools as well as Eljada Kairos School received boxes of educational toys this week. Not only did they receive the toys but educators also received training on utilising the toys in the classroom.
The training was facilitated in the hall of Eljada Kairos last Satrudray and the 13 boxes of toys va-lued at more than R10 000 each were handed over to schools this week.
The Rotary Club of Oudtshoorn applied to Care for Education for Duplo Play Boxes for the preschools in Oudtshoorn. The play boxes are supplied by Care for Education, in conjunction with The Lego Foundation and UNICEF, to pre-approved preschools and educational institutions.
The Duplo sets are used to engage children in holistic development and executive functioning skills.
The training offered for use of this resource is for the empowerment of ECD educators to enrich the learning through play experience for the children in their care in line with the new government initiative.
Staff members from Eljada Kairos School for the Disabled, Nomonde Creche, Pierewiet Speelgroep, Siyaka Educare Centre, and Bridgton Pre and Aftercare Centre attended the training and each received at least two boxes of Duplo.
Shayne Moodie, from The Nest Educational Hub is an endorsed facilitator with Care for Education and has 25 years of international experience in Early Childhood Development. She facilitated the training session that received extremely positive feedback from the participants.
