TWO men were arrested at the Oudtshoorn Taxi Rank on Friday (1 July) for the murder of Marshall Davids (40), whose body was found at 18:30 at the taxi rank.
According to Capt Malcolm Pojie, spokesperson for the South Cape Police, members attached to the Eden Cluster Crime Combatting Team and the Rural Flying Squad pounced on the Oudtshoorn Taxi Rank following reports of a fighting.
“Upon their arrival the body of Marshall Davids (40) was found with a stab wound to his neck.
“Members also found the murder weapon, an Okapi knife, as well as a bloodstained hoody on the scene and confiscated it as evidence.
“They subsequently arrested two male suspects, aged 50 and 40, on the scene on a charge of murder.”
• Pojie said police in the Eden Cluster in the Garden Route District during the weekend expanded their efforts to ensure a safe environment for all inhabitants, via the strategic deployment of members in the crime ridden areas.
A total of 238 suspects were arrested between Thursday afternoon, 30 June, and Sunday morning, 3 July at 06:00. The total arrests represent various criminal offences, ranging from petty to more serious offences.
The weekend’s operations included high visibility blue light patrols in crime stricken areas, stop and search operations with a special focus on the prevention of serious and violent crime, illegal firearms, the tracing of wanted suspects and the confiscation of dangerous weapons.
