The artist, Jennifer Bischoff, who has been living in De Rust for the past two years took it upon herself to brighten up a dull wall at the entrance to De Rust.
She says that she is on a community WhatsApp group where residents of De Rust engage with each other. “I saw that people were keen to beautify De Rust and I realised that I could also contribute.”
She got permission from the school to whom the wall belongs, to do a mural on the wall. She mentioned on the group that she was planning a mural and soon received donations of material to do the artwork.
She spent more than three weeks on preparing the wall, doing sketches and painting the art. This piece of art now welcomes visitors who drive into De Rust from Oudtshoorn. (HANNES VISSER)
