Oudtshoorn ‘Rec’ gets new name

Six Gun Grill, Crown National Food Group’s flagship brand, and anchor sponsor of South Western
Districts Cricket (SWDC) – has engaged in a further commercial partnership with the Oudtshoorn
based affiliate with the news that the home of the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers in Oudtshoorn
will in future be known as the Six Gun Grill Recreational Ground.

This iconic venue which was better known as a rugby field was re-vamped into a first-class cricket
field and since 2004 hosted various first class matches over the years and most notably also
franchise fixtures for the Cape Cobras during the previous domestic structure and the final of the
African T20 Cup in 2016.

Crown National Food Group MD John Morris made the announcement on Monday. “I am proud to
announce this partnership that already shares so much in common, both upholding a commitment to
excellence, honesty and integrity that will serve the game of cricket in our region and across our
country”, he said.

The Chief Executive Officer of South Western Districts Cricket, Albertus Kennedy, expressed his
delight with this announcement. “Six Gun Grill is an iconic brand in its own right and I would like to
thank the Six Gun Grill team for their faith in our brand”, he said.

“It is fantastic news to have an extension of the Crown Food Group and its Six Gun Grill brand to the
South Western Districts Cricket family”, said SWD Cricket President, Mr Rudy Claassen. “Having a
stadium naming rights sponsor such as Six Gun Grill is a huge privilege and is the perfect boost for
our teams and our aspirations for higher honors. We thank Six Gun Grill for backing our union and we
look forward to a long and successful relationship.” He also extended a word of thanks and
appreciation to the Oudtshoorn Municipality, the owner of the facility who formally approved the
request of a Stadium Naming rights sponsor.
