Just months after being crowned Miss Pre Teen International 2026 at the Miss Teen Universe South Africa pageant, Lethabo Sekgobela took another major step in her pageant journey by representing South Africa at the Mini Model World competition in Colombia.

The Grade 8 learner from Oudtshoorn High School competed in the Mini Model Pre Teen category. The competition took place from 8 to 15 June, bringing together young contestants from countries around the world for a week of cultural exchange, friendship and competition.

Among the highlights of the competition was Lethabo’s striking national costume, which paid tribute to South Africa’s rich natural heritage. Inspired by the country’s iconic Big Five, the costume celebrated the strength, resilience, diversity and unity of the Rainbow Nation. It also reflected South Africa’s deep connection with its wildlife and natural landscapes, carrying a message of national pride as Lethabo showcased it on the international stage.

Looking back on the experience, Lethabo said the opportunity to represent her country was one she would never forget.

“The experience in Colombia was amazing. I had the opportunity to interact with other contestants from all over the world. I truly had an in-credible time in Colombia, and it was such an honour for me to represent South Africa at an international level.”

She also expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported her throughout her journey.

“I am very thankful to all my supporters, sponsors, family, designers and my national director for always believing in me and giving me the chance to represent Oudtshoorn and South Africa. Thank you to the Mini Model World organisation for giving me this amazing opportunity to represent my country.”

Before her departure, Oudtshoorn High School described Lethabo’s participation as “a remarkable achievement” and said it was incredibly proud that one of its learners had been given the opportunity to represent South Africa on an international stage.

“Your hard work, dedication and self- confidence have brought you this far and we are confident that you will be an excellent ambassador for South Africa. May this journey be filled with unforgettable experiences, new friendships and great success. Enjoy every moment and remember that the entire Struisie community is behind you. Go and show the world what you are made of Lethabo!”

Lethabo earned the opportunity to compete internationally after being crowned Miss Pre Teen International 2026 in Polokwane earlier this year. This whole journey gave her the chance to build friendships with contestants from across the globe, celebrate South Africa’s heritage on the international stage and proudly represent both her hometown and her country.
