Oudtshoorn: Foreign national in court for possession of drugs

A 29 year old foreign national is scheduled to appear in the Oudtshoorn Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, 3 May 2021) following his arrest yesterday after members attached to the Oudtshoorn Crime Prevention Unit found 1 068 Mandrax tablets in his possession.

Members followed up on information received from the community which led them to a residence in 21st Avenue, Bongolethu, Oudtshoorn. They found the Mandrax tablets inside the residence, and arrested the occupant, a Nigerian national. He was charged with the possession of illegal drugs. The drugs, worth an estimated amount of R64 000, was destined for local distribution.

The latest arrest follows concerted efforts to eradicate illegal drugs within communities by Southern Cape Police over the past weekend with several arrests being made.
