Dean Lategan, owner of a farm in Matjiesrivier close to the Swartberg Pass outside Oudtshoorn, described yesterday’s strong winds in the area as the worst ever on the farm.
Roofs were blown off and trees uprooted in the area.
He wrote on Facebook: “This is the worst storm I have experienced in my life on the farm. Our neighbour’s house was struck by a tree that is over 100 years old and a few hours later the other branch destroyed the power lines.
Dean and his wife Petra are the owners of Latana Cheese, a business that has received many awards in recent years.
