Hy het as volg gereageer:

The council took a decision to establish a committee that will be dealing with informal settlements (illegal shacks), and I was also nominated to be part of that committee. The unfortunate thing is that the governing party chose to exclude the opposition without giving us any reason. I just hear of meetings taking place without me being invited. The governing party does not have any solutions to this problem and if they can be honest with you, they know that the ANC has the solutions as we have always had. Our policies are very clear on this matter, just that the mayor and his team is failing to execute. We even advised that the council should have a meeting with the entire Directorate of Human Settlements to discuss challenges facing the department and housing in Oudtshoorn. The only thing the governing party is interested in, is the personal squabble they have with the director. Sadly, this results in what we see today, continuous protests on housing. If their focus was on the people, they would have ensured that we are part of meetings.
