THE Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers Rural team to play in the Cricket SA Rural tournament for Coastal provinces in Saldanha over the period 19-22 February 2024 was announced this week.
Although the team composition was focussed on the development of young prospects three players with first class experience who excelled in club cricket namely Mark Andrianatos, Leroi Bredenkamp and Rhupino Plaatjies were included in the team.
Bredenkamp will captain the team.
The Badgers reached the final in the previous tournament that was hosted in Oudtshoorn in 2022 where they lost in the final against Boland.
The team is:
Mark Andrianatos (George CC), Randy Wesso (Pacaltsdorp United CC), Bradley Carolus (Pacaltsdorp United CC), Jermaine Le Kay (Harlequins Forces CC), Anoxolo Kitshini (Thembalethu CC), Leroi Bredenkamp – (Pacaltsdorp United CC – Captain), Tyrique Wessels (Union Stars CC), Franco Geldenhuys (Pacaltsdorp United CC), Darryl Damons (Plett Pioneers), Rhupino Plaatjies (Harlequins Forces – Vice-Captain), Yamkela Xakani (Union Stars), Ricardo Majolla (Pacaltsdorp United CC and Blake Linder (Knysna Cavaliers).
The head coach is Pieter Stuurman and Ranwill Claassen is the assistant coach.
