Dill-Bill’s Cricket Academy has achieved a significant milestone after SWD Cricket provisionally approved its accreditation status on Thursday, 30 July 2026, paving the way for the academy to become affiliated with the union.

The approval marks the culmination of a lengthy process for the academy, which made its third attempt to secure accreditation. Previous applications in 2020 and 2025 were unsuccessful after the academy failed to meet the strict criteria and requirements set by Cricket South Africa (CSA).

In South Africa, private cricket academies seeking affiliation with a provincial or regional union are required to apply through their local union before accreditation can be considered by CSA. The process is designed to ensure that academies meet the required standards in areas including administration, coaching, player development and governance.

Speaking about the achievement, academy founder Dillan Moos said the journey had been challenging but that the approval made the perseverance worthwhile.

“It was tough receiving this accreditation status after many attempts, but I’m just glad we finally received approval and will be affiliated to SWD Cricket,” Moos said.

He acknowledged that the provisional approval comes with continued responsibilities and strict requirements that the academy will have to maintain.

“Despite being approved, there are still strict requirements we need to adhere to, but I believe we will manage,” he added.

For Moos, the achievement also carries a strong personal significance. Having been involved in the SWD cricket fraternity for many years and having played much of his cricket within the union, he believes Dill-Bill’s Academy shares SWD Cricket’s broader vision of developing and uplifting sport in local communities.

The accreditation is particularly historic for SWD Cricket, as Dill-Bill’s Cricket Academy becomes the first academy in the union’s history to receive approval and endorsement through this process.

The milestone represents not only recognition of the academy’s progress, but also a new chapter in its commitment to developing young cricketers and contributing to the growth of cricket within the SWD region.
