Updating of prepaid electricity meters

THE Greater Oudtshoorn Municipality is embarking on rolling out the Token Identifier (TID) verification of electricity and water pre-paid infrastructure in the whole Oudtshoorn municipal area, that includes Oudtshoorn, De Rust, Dysselsdorp and consumers will receive a TID roll-over code.

The present system of identification numbers being used for prepaid electricity meters will come to an end on 24 November 2024 in all municipalities countrywide.

It is essential that all prepaid meters be updated to recognise the new numbers after 24 November 2024.

Service providers are currently visiting residences according to an established program to update meters.

It is important to allow these service providers access to do the necessary updating.

Residents whose meters have not been updated by 24 November 2024 will not be able to purchase and load electricity from 25 November 2024.

Property owners and residents are requested to provide their full co-operation when fieldworkers visit their homes and must request the following identification documents before allowing them on the property:
• Original signed instruction letter from the municipality
• ID tag and Identity document

For any queries on the TID Roll-over process please feel free to contact Ms Nondumiso Mjewu at 044 203 3092 or Ms Portia Sazela at 044 203 3058.
