A NEW series of small art works by Janet Dixon, artist and medical doctor from Oudtshoorn, will be on display at a special Open Studio event at ArtKaroo ArtHouse.
Dixon’s exhibition called Hope & The Nature of being Human follows a break from the public eye. Although this series is a departure from Dixon’s more conventional style, the works are figuratively symbolic and a continuation of the theme of plant life and nature reflecting the human condition.
In the works textures and layering with rich earthy colours are juxtaposed with the harshness of thorns and Karoo foliage, reflecting life in its cycles of flourish and struggle.
A special discount of 10% will be offered to the first 10 buyers on the opening evening on Thursday 5 December, starting at 18:30.
There will also be a studio sale of older works.
The new works will be available for viewing by the public on Friday 6 December from 09:00 to 18:00 and on Saturday 7 December from 09:00 to 14:00. Online sales open at 18:00 on 6 December on https://www.artkaroo.co.za/janetdixonart.
Dixon ran a fulltime gallery in Oudtshoorn, ArtKaroo, for 10 years. It now operates online and by appointment from ArtKaroo Stay, her artist’s studio, home, gallery and self-catering accomodation.
She also exhibits currently at the Imibala Gal-lery in Graaff-Reinet, and has curated numerous shows through ArtKaroo over the past 12 years.
