Three women are the winners of the first World Aids Day Awareness photo competition held in Oudtshoorn. The three are Janine Damons, Angie von Boetticher and Angelique Erasmus, journalist of Die Hoorn.
An exhibition of the photo’s of the 16 participants was officially opened on Monday by Oudtshoorn’s deputy mayor, Noluthando Mwati, and the officer in charge of the SANDF Health Centre South Coast, Lt Col Stephan Henrico.
Ntobeko Mangqwengqwe, senior communications and media officer at the Oudtshoorn Municipality, headed the program, which took place at the CJ Langenhoven Memorial Library.
Participants had to enter two photo’s – a before photo representing what the photographer became aware of about how South Africans are affected by HIV/Aids, while the second photo had to represent the highest hope for HIV/Aids in the future.
Each photo had to be accompanied by a short description explaining the meaning behind the photo.
The exhibition will be available to view at public libraries in and around Oudtshoorn.
