Lily-Ann Geldart (photo bottom) is 17 years old and attends Table View High School in Cape Town. She took this photo of an ostrich at one of the local ostrich farms. What makes it even more remarkable is that she has only 40% vision in her left eye. In 2021, she was diagnosed with bilateral optic nerve glioma tumours. The damage is permanent. These non-cancerous tumours have been stable to date. Her passion for photography began in Grade 5. After matric, Lily-Ann plans to study photography.
