The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers had a disappointing end to their season after a satisfactory maiden season in the CSA Women’s professional competition.
The Badgers lost both the limited over and T20 matches against the bottom of the log Recon Tactical Free State team at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn.
In the limited over match the Badgers batters failed to convert a defendable total as they were dismissed for a modest 133. Free State (134/6) surpassed the target in the 37th over for a 6-wicket bonus point victory.
In the T20 match on Sunday Yolandi Potgieter (71 from 51 balls; 12×4) played a match winning innings and took the Free State to a competitive 143/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite a third wicket partnership of 73 from 80 balls between Thabita la Grange (49) and Miceala Andrews (37) the Badgers fell short of their run chase and ended on 116/4 – a defeat of 27 runs.
