The Build it Cycle Tour, held in Oudtshoorn on Sunday 9 November, attracted almost 200 cyclists from all nine provinces in South Africa. Some of the biggest names in cycling participated in this event. The three distances were 28 km, 54 km and 104 km.
Participants started in the centre of town, with two lanes closed for traffic for the duration of the tour.
Cyclists headed in the direction of the iconic Cango Caves, with beautiful scenery along the route.
The weather played along, with a cool 17°C start and light rain closer to the Swartberg Mountains. As the day progressed, the temperature rose to around 24°C, with a touch of humidity.
The street mile, held later in the day, proved to be a highlight for many, testing speed and endurance after a full and long day of racing, adding even more excitement to an already eventful day.
Build it has announced that it will once again come on board as the main sponsor for next year’s event.
