The Central Karoo K-9 Dog Unit confiscated drugs worth more than R6 million yesterday at Beaufort West.
According to Capt Malcolm Pojie, spokesperson for the police in the Southern Cape, this was the result of sustained efforts by the police to eradicate drug trafficking along the main entrance and exit routes of the area.
Two women were arrested.
Pojie said members of the police were conducting roadblocks when they spotted a suspicious minibus which was then pulled over. “In the search that ensued they discovered two cases filled with 5, 4 kg of Tik and 12, 25 kg of Tik respectively.”
The two wome, aged 42 and 33 years old, will appear in the Beaufort-West Magistrates’ Court today on on two cases of dealing in drugs.
