FOR the fourth consecutive year, Boplaas was awarded a gold medal for its Heritage Muscadel at the SA Muscadel Challenge 2018.
The Boplaas Heritage White Muscadel 2013 was made from a 35 year old Muscadel vineyard with a low yield of only 6 tons per hectare. The grapes were hand-picked at 31 B° (Baumé degrees) early in the morning and left on the skins in an open lagar for 48 hours.
The luscious, golden Muscadel with flavours of dried figs, dried apricots, honey and orange peel lingers on the palate.
Served well chilled, it is perfect as an aperitif or partner to spicy Indian dishes, hearty Cantonese cuisine, aromatic Thai dishes as well as traditional Cape fare such as bobotie and rice.
This Muscadel can age in the bottle for 30 years and more. These fine Muscats will offer enjoyment over decades of cellaring and showcase one of the Cape’s forgotten wine gems.
