THE ever-popular and picturesque Meiringspoort 21,1 km race, as well as the 12,5 km version of the race, is almost here!
This year the race will take place on Saturday, 8 October, with registration for both races open from Friday, 7 October. According to the organizers of the race, participants can register between 11:00 and 21:00 on Friday at the Dutch Reformed Church grounds in De Rust and between 04:30 and 05:30 on raceday, also at the church grounds.
Currently, as opposed to the 2021 version of the race, there are no Covid-19 regulations or requirements in place. The 2020 version of the race was cancelled, and in 2021 the race followed a virtual format.
The assembly area for both races will be in the rest area at the famous Meiringspoort waterfall. Organizers warn that participants will not be allowed onto the road. “The race will start from the assembly area on the side of the road from where you will move into the right hand lane, facing oncoming traffic, as you proceed to the finish line,” they said via a press release.
The 12,5 km starts at 07:00, and the 21,1 km 15 minutes later. Transport to both starting lines will also be available from 04:45 to 05:30. 12,5 km – Transport will leave from Le Roux Street in front of the church. 21,1 km – Transport will leave from the Main Street.
Please take careful note of the registration process. The volunteers working at registration will not deviate from these arrangements.
