THE Oudtshoorn Municipality is urging residents to switch off or disconnect non-essential electrical appliances during loadshedding to avoid power surges when power returns.
Power surges can cause damage to appliances and also cause further power outages as the network is overwhelmed due to high demand.
The municipality urged residents to switch off main plugs or appliances immediately before loadshedding and then gradually switch them back on after loadshedding. This will ensure safety and avoid damage to electrical appliances.
