Three suspects arrested in Oudtshoorn: Southern Cape Police clamp down on drug and liquor outlets

COMBINED efforts by the Rural Flying Squad in Oudtshoorn and members of the Da Gamaskop Crime Prevention Unit over the weekend resulted in the arrest of three suspects, aged between 32 and 50 years old, on charges of selling liquor without a licence.

The operations have been conducted at various premises in Bongulethu, Smartie Town and Thabo Mbeki Sqaure in Oudtshoorn since Friday, 13 May 2022.

350 litres of liquor and R5 000 were confiscated.

The cash is believed to be proceeds of the illegal liquor trade.

All arrested will appear in court once charged.

According to Serg Christopher Spies, spokesperson of the Southern Cape Police, the arrests and confiscations form part of concerted efforts by police in the Southern Cape to eradicate substance abuse which contributes to serious and violent crimes, mostly over weekends.
